2% BHA Lotion Exfoliant

After cleansing, apply the exfoliating lotion to clean skin using a cotton pad or fingertips on the face and neck. Do not rinse.

Beginner:
Start slowly with salicylic acid (BHA) and use it 1 to 3 times per week in the evening. This gives your skin time to adjust and helps prevent irritation or over-exfoliation.

Advanced:
Is your skin responding well after 3 to 4 weeks? Then gradually increase usage to 3 to 5 times per week.

On the other days, use gentle, hydrating products to support your skin.

Never use multiple BHA products on the same day, with the exception of the BHA Cleanser. Also, avoid combining BHA with other active ingredients such as AHAs, retinol, or vitamin C in the same routine. Instead, alternate these on different days to avoid overloading the skin.

BHA increases sun sensitivity, so apply a SPF 30 or higher daily, even on cloudy days.

If you experience redness or irritation:
Reduce frequency or pause use and opt for calming skincare.

When to Avoid Using Salicylic Acid:

• If you are allergic or hypersensitive to aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid)
• If you have open wounds, eczema, or severely damaged skin
• If you suffer from rosacea or couperose
• During pregnancy or breastfeeding (especially with high concentrations or large areas of application)
• If you have extremely dry or sensitive skin
• When using other exfoliants such as retinol, AHAs, or vitamin C
• Around the eyes or on the eyelids
• When exposed to intense sunlight without daily SPF protection
• During or shortly after a course of Roaccutane (isotretinoin)
• For children or teenagers under 16 years old
• During or shortly after intensive treatments such as chemical peels or microneedling

When should I choose a scrub with grains and when a chemical exfoliant?
Scrubs with grains, also called mechanical exfoliants, are ideal when you want an instant smooth skin feeling, for example on dry or flaky areas. These work on the surface. A chemical exfoliant such as BHA or AHA works deeper into the skin. These acids are often gentler and more effective with long-term use.

What is the difference between AHA and BHA?
AHA like glycolic acid works on the surface of the skin and is ideal for dull skin tone, fine lines, and dark spots.

BHA like salicylic acid penetrates deeper into the pores and is perfect for oily skin, blemishes, and blackheads.

How often can I use products with salicylic acid?
Start by using them one to three times per week in the evening. If your skin responds well, you can build up to three to five times a week.

Can I combine the Exfoliating Lotion with other active ingredients like retinol or vitamin C?
It is better not to use them on the same day. Alternate on different days to avoid skin irritation.

Do I need to use sunscreen during the day when using BHA?
Yes. Salicylic acid makes the skin more sensitive to sunlight. Always apply a sun protection product with SPF 30 or higher in the morning.

Can I use more than one BHA product at the same time?
No, do not use multiple BHA products in one day. The only exception is the BHA Cleanser which may be combined with one other BHA product.
